Settings

Open Settings from the sidebar. Changes save right away. Settings for one chart, like difficulty and style, are on the Generate tab instead.

Fretformer 2 with Inpaint takes about 1.2 GB of storage either way. On desktop it's one download, and the files they share only download once. In the browser, Inpaint comes separately. Lite includes its own Inpaint.

Folders

Desktop only
  • Clone Hero / YARG songsWhere Save to Clone Hero / YARG puts songs. Set it to your game's songs folder.
  • ProjectsYour projects: each song, its takes and its final chart.
  • CacheSeparations and analysis, so later takes start sooner. Clear deletes them; your projects stay.
  • Model filesThe downloaded models.
  • Keep separated stemsOff by default. Charts only need a few MB from each separation, so the stems (hundreds of MB a song) are deleted afterwards. Playing a stem separates the song again when they're gone.

Click a folder's path to open it. Change picks another, and Reset goes back to the default.

Performance

The hardware mode. Default: Automatic. CUDA is only in the desktop app on Windows and Linux. In the browser, this card also shows the graphics card and memory it found. See Hardware.

Export

Browser only

What Export downloads. A .sng, the default, goes straight into your songs folder. A .zip unzips into a song folder you can edit by hand.

Language and theme

  • LanguageAt the top of Settings: English, Español or Português (Brasil). Match system, the default, follows your computer.
  • Color themeIn the sidebar: light, dark or your system's theme.

Updates and counts

  • Check for updatesDesktop only. On by default. Once a day, checks GitHub for a newer version. Nothing about you or your songs is sent. See Updates.
  • Share usage countsBrowser only. On by default. Sends counts like charts made, which model and what failed, never your songs or anything that identifies you. Do Not Track turns it off too. See Privacy.

The desktop app sends no usage data at all.
